Bool Lagoon Game Reserve and Hacks Lagoon Conservation Park, located in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia, are important freshwater wetlands known for their diverse wildlife and significant bird populations. These seasonal wetlands serve as a crucial drought refuge for many rare and endangered bird species, including the impressive brolga.

The railway never passed through Bool Lagoon. Lindsay Baker used some creative licence to include it in the layout due to it’s importance to the region.
